These awards are offered competitively to aspiring, experienced musicians. They enable musicians to gain experience, confidence and connections of the kind that help them to establish themselves professionally.
They provide talented artists with the means and time to enhance and hone their artistic skills and to establish new professional contacts while continuing their development with the appropriate guidance.
Piano Accompaniment Fellowships and Junior Fellows play a dual role: they are expected to contribute to the RCM community while also pursuing their own developing careers. This enables them to use the resources that the RCM provides while also using it as a platform from which to enter the professional world.

The RCM’s new hall of residence, Prince Consort Village provides high-quality accommodation for around 400 students.
During the year, the Student Services department also produces a list of landlords offering private accommodation to RCM students.
With effect from 20 February 2016 landlords of private accommodation will be required to check their tenants’ immigration status before granting a tenancy agreement, to make sure that the potential tenant has valid permission to be in the UK.
You have valid permission if:
- You are an EEA/Swiss national;
- You have the right to be in the UK under EEA law (for example because you are the family member of an EEA/Swiss national); or
- You have valid immigration permission to be in the UK To do this they will need to see your passport and/or visa, if applicable.
