Introducing our Spring 2010 season

Pianist

Welcome to a new decade at the RCM!

2010 gets off to a thrilling start with a pair of high-energy concerts to banish those midwinter blues - the electric RCM Big Band followed by the inspirational Gordan Nikolitch with the RCM String Band.

Gordan's concert of Mendelssohn and Janáček kicks off a particular focus this season on German and Czeck orchestral music. You can hear Bohemian masterpieces by Dvořák and Janáček and by Martinů. Then you can hop over the border to Germany to get your fill of Wagner and Richard Strauss, and we're delighted to welcome Schumann specialist Roy Goodman for his RCM debut.

There is also a big focus on keyboard music through the ages, including a celebration of the fortepiano, a number of "Encounter" events featuring our early keyboard instruments and a celebration of Bach Trio Sonatas. Then to cap it all, the RCM is gripped by Piano Fever! from 5 to 9 March.

We end the season with two early stage works. Ashley Solomon presents Purcell's glorious semi-opera Dioclesian in a special performance featuring baroque dancers, while our highly acclaimed annual collaboration with the London Handel Festival makes a welcome return in March with three performances of Handel's Il Pastor Fido.

We look forward to welcoming you here soon!
