An extensive collection of over 20,000 recordings provides an audiovisual dimension to the large printed music collection. All formats, ranging from 78 rpm gramophone records, vinyl (LPs), cassette tapes, CDs, video cassettes and DVDs can be played on equipment distributed over 20 AV stations. One station includes an I-Tune player that streams all RCM Studio recordings from 2001 to the present.

The collection of over 8000 CDs and 800 video cassette/DVDs can be searched online from here. Keyword search can access performers, librettists, authors and recording dates for historical performances. For vinyl (LP) recordings, an excellent card catalogue can also be searched for performers. Handlists for cassette tapes and 78 rpm are available. In addition to classical, jazz and world music there are language cassette tapes, film music compositions on videocassette/DVDs, master-class sessions, musical documentaries, electronic and computer music.
