Academic Registrar (maternity cover)

Closing date: 12 noon on Monday 14 May 2012

Interview date: Wednesday 23 May 2012

Salary: £50,380-£56,239 pa

Are you a senior HE administrator with an informed interest in music, a strong administrative and managerial background, self-supporting, with excellent communication, teamwork and IT skills? If so, we are looking for an experienced academic administrator to lead the work of the Registry - the central hub for students and professors at the Royal College of Music.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the Registry, which deals with the complete student life cycle - from application to graduation - from undergraduate to doctoral level. This includes assessment through public recitals and the organisation of individual music lessons with our part-time professors - most of whom are busy professional musicians.  Key contacts in ensuring the effective delivery of services are the heads of faculty (e.g. Head of Strings, Brass, Composition, etc.), heads of programmes and the Performance & Programming team, who organise the College’s performance programme.

Working in conjunction with a deputy, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring high quality data on the RCM’s student information system and all student-based statutory returns, such as HESA returns.

The post holder will work closely with the Deputy Director – in particular in managing key QA processes, such as student appeals and complaints and supporting the work of the academic board.
