RCM composers keep busy in 2012

Tuesday 26 July 2011

Two RCM composers have landed prestigious commissions for 2012 from two of the leading UK organisations for new music.

Finnish composer Lauri Supponen, an undergraduate student at the RCM, has been awarded one of the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Awards for 2012. As part of his prize he will receive a commission for the Cheltenham festival for 2012. RCM composers have enjoyed remarkable success in this competition in recent years. Previous recipeints of the award include RCM composers Steven Daverson, Charlotte Bray and Shiva Feshareki.

Meanwhile, masters student Mark Boden has been awarded a place on the prestigious Leverhulme Young Composers Scheme with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Mark will produce a new work for members of the LPO in June 2012.

Congratulations to them both.
