Two RCM composers have received prestigious awards and commissions from international competitions and festivals.

Steven Daverson’s Escher’s Pharmacy, commissioned by the Huddersfield International Festival of Contemporary Music for Ensemble Recherche, receives its world premiere at the festival on 20 November.

A CD of Steven’s chamber works including his series for ensembles and orchestra, Elusive Tangibility, has completed recording and will shortly be released commercially.

Adriano Gaglianello has won the first prize at the Serocki International Composition Competition in Warsaw and also gained a special prize as the youngest winner. His winning work, Aldebaran for orchestra, receives its world premiere on 17 November and will be broadcast on Polish Radio.

Adriano also recently won the “2 Agosto” International Composition Competition in Bologna. His winning work, "Rapsodia Concertante" for Clarinet, Accordion and Orchestra, received its world premiere on 2 August 2011 with the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Riccardo Ceni.

Congratulations to them both.
