RCMJD students take seats in the NYO

Tuesday 24 November 2015

18 talented RCMJD students have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

The Junior Department is well represented in this year’s woodwind section, where Marie Sato takes her seat as joint principal flute, Matt Glendening as principal clarinet, and Lucy Dundas as joint principal bassoon (pictured). Additionally, Georgie Davis will play both viola and clarinet with the orchestra and Laura Newey has been appointed as an NYO composer.

RCMJD students have a legacy of playing with the NYO. Last year’s orchestra was led by Stephanie Childress and co-leading this year’s line-up is recent RCMJD alumnus Athena Hawksley-Walker.
