Composer Successes

Thursday 23 February 2012

This year has already seen a number of successes for composers at the RCM…

Arne Gieshoff has been commissioned by the St Magnus International Festival to write a piece for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) with support from Robert Clark and Susan Costello. This work will form part of the Conductors' Course repertoire and will be premiered in a concert by the RSNO during the festival this year.

Charlotte Harding has won the Intercollegiate Theodore Holland Composers’ Award. This award is made to a composer from the one of the Royal Schools of Music every year.

Camilo Mendez’s recent work for saxophone quartet has been selected for performance during the World Saxophone Congress at the University of St Andrews this summer. Camilo will also be attending performances of his music in Montreal, Canada later this year.

Adam Kornas’s orchestral work ‘Cortege’ has been selected for workshop by the London Contemporary Chamber Orchestra.

Congratulations to them all.
