Dean & Chadlington Singing Competition

Monday 1 July 2013

RCM singers have picked up first and second prize in the Dean and Chadlington Singing Competition.

Preforming in the final on 29 June, tenor Nick Pritchard picked up the top prize of £1,000 plus an appearance at next year’s Dean and Chadlington Summer Music Festival. He was followed closely by soprano Hannah Sandison, who was awarded the second prize of £500. Nick and Hannah were the two RCM representatives in a tough field of eight young singers, all of whom have been studying at UK conservatoires.

Now in its second year, the Dean and Chadlington Singing Competition is quickly gaining a reputation as a leading competition for young UK singers. It demands versatility of its competitors, who must perform an English song, a song in another language and an opera aria.
