Florilegium at Bath International Music Festival

RCM Ensemble in Association Florilegium are collaborating with RCM singers and alumnae for two performances of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at this year’s Bath International Music Festival.

This sold-out staged production of Dido and Aeneas will be given in the city’s famous Roman Baths (which the Bath authorities have drained for the performances) on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 May at 9.30pm. Conducted by RCM Head of Historical Performance Ashley Solomon, members of Florilegium will be joined by RCM alumnae Helen-Jane Howells (Dido) and Elin Manahan Thomas (Belinda), and a chorus comprising nine members of the RCM Chamber Choir.

As part of their residency at the Bath Festival, Florilegium will also give a workshop, perform the winning works of the NCEM Composers Award 2013 and present Bach’s complete Brandenburg Concertos and Orchestral Suites nos 1 and 2.

Also performing at the Festival is RCM Quartet in Association the Sacconi Quartet, who present a concert with the Danish String Quartet and an interactive Family Concert.
