RCM guitarist Jonatan Bougt has triumphed at the Young Talents Competition at the Uppsala International Guitar Festival in Sweden.

Nineteen -year-old Jonatan was one of only four finalists selected to compete from all over the world. Following his performance in the Festival’s main concert on 12 October, the international jury awarded Jonatan the First Prize "for his natural musicality, professionalism, concentrated stage presence and technical brilliance." His prize included a premium Ibanez electric guitar and an Ibanez Jemini distortion pedal worth 10,000 Krona (c. £1000).

Uppsala is the biggest guitar festival in Scandinavia, and celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013. The Young Talents Competition is open to guitarists of all genres who are under 26 years of age.

RCM guitarist Laura Snowden has also enjoyed success by winning Third Prize at the second London International Guitar Competition. Founded by the International Guitar Foundation, the competition has quickly established itself as one of the world's most important competitions for guitarists under the age of 30.
