New additions to the String Faculty

Monday 16 September 2013

The RCM String Faculty is delighted to welcome the following additions to its world class department at the start of the 2013 autumn term.

Violinist and alumna Alina Ibragimova joins the RCM for a three-year residency, which includes teaching, open classes and performances. Principal Viola player with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra Ida Bryhn and Italian double bassist Gabriele Ragghianti also make valuable additions to the faculty.

International superstar Johannes Goritzki, who has been an RCM Prince Consort Professor for the last three years, renews his residency thanks to the generous support of George von Opel. The department also looks forward to ever closer ties with legendary guitarist John Williams whose unassuming approach and personal style of teaching enthuses students.

Another addition to the faculty is a wonderful Salvi Apollo harp. The new instrument adds to the RCM's outstanding and extensive collection of Salvi and Lyon and Healy harps, which are available to students.
