Stella Maris Singing Competition

Recent RCM graduate countertenor Rupert Enticknap has won the Opera and Lieder Prizes at the 2013 Stella Maris Competition, as well as coming second in the competition's Oratorio Prize.

Stella Maris is a seaborne singing competition for rising young opera stars which takes place on board MS Europa. The world's  top opera houses nominate each competitor, and this year Rupert triumphed against singers from the Canadian Opera Company, the Deutsche Oper (Berlin), the Opernstudio of the Dresdner Semperoper, La Scala (Milan), the Staatsoper Hamburg and the Theater an der Wien.

Rupert's prize includes a test recording with Deutsche Grammophon and a recital at the Canadian Opera Company. He is currently a member of the Junges Ensemble at the Theater an der Wien, where this season he will be playing the title roles in Handel's Orlando and Radamisto and L'umana fragility / Pisandro in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse.
