Stephen Fry at the RCM

Tuesday 2 July 2013

RCM students have been workshopping a brand new opera with music by RCM graduate Louis Mander and libretto by Stephen Fry.

On 2 July, Stephen Fry visited the RCM to direct the students in a one-off workshop and informal presentation of three short scenes from “The Life to Come”, an opera based on the short story by E. M. Forster. Composer Louis Mander conducted the RCM Opera Orchestra as well as singers from the RCM International Opera School.

Stephen Fry tweeted: “Having fun workshopping my operatic version of Forster’s 'The Life to Come' @RCMLatest - the students are stupendous”

The cast included Peter Kirk, Bradley Travis, Matt R J Ward and Katherine Crompton, all fresh from their appearances in last week’s smash-hit production of Offenbach’s operetta La Vie Parisienne.
