Audition by Recording for International Applicants
The RCM prefers you to audition in person, but international applicants who live outside the European Union may choose to submit an original recording of their performance in lieu of a live audition. Please note that we cannot accept recorded auditions for the following candidates:
- Vocal candidates for the Artist Diploma in Opera course
- Conductors (conductors submit an initial recorded audition, but if invited to progress to the second round must attend a live audition in London)
Composers may choose to be assessed on the basis of their portfolio only (without a live interview), and should select the "original recording" option when applying.
Please note that applicants who are auditioned by recording cannot normally be considered for RCM scholarships.
If you wish to audition by original recording, please ensure that you apply online through UCAS Conservatoires and submit your recorded audition by 1 October 2016.
Late applications can sometimes be considered, but please ensure that you contact firstname.lastname@example.org to check whether places remain before applying.
How to submit your original recording
Your audition should consist of a video recording lasting approximately 20 minutes. Audio only recordings will not be accepted. For details of what to prepare, please see the audition requirements for your Principal Study.
You should submit your recording online through DecisionDesk. Please do not post your recording to the RCM as we can only accept recordings through DecisionDesk. If you should experience any problems in uploading your recording, please email email@example.com.
Please note, you do not have to pay a fee to use DecisionDesk.
