UK Government funding for UK and EU undergraduates

UK and EU undergraduate students may be eligible for the following funding support from the UK government through the Student Loans Company (SLC). To find out more information, click here.  

The SLC options are summarised below:

Tuition Fee Loan (UK and EU Students)

All eligible students can apply for a loan to cover the full tuition fee. This is paid by the government directly to the RCM. You need to apply for a Tuition Fee Loan for each year of study. 

Student Maintenance Loan (UK Students)

All eligible students can apply for a loan of up to £7,675 a year to help with your living expenses whilst you are studying.

Non-repayable Maintenance Grant (UK Students)   

This is a means-tested award, based on your parents’ income. You can get:

  • £3,250 if your household income is £25,000 or under
  • Between £50 and £3,250 if your household income is between £25,001 and £42,600

Repayments

  • You will only begin paying back your student loan once you are earning more than £21,000 year
  • If your income falls below £21,000 a year, your repayments stop
  • You pay 9% of your income over £21,000
  • After 30 years, if you have not repaid your loan in full, the rest is written off
