Master of Music: MMus in Composition and Composition for Screen

MMus programmes are intended for those who are aiming for careers that require more extensive academic experience alongside high level performance or composition skills. They also provide a solid grounding for those aiming for further study at doctoral level.

Master of Music: MMus in Composition

This course is two years full-time/three years part-time. Exceptionally, it can be taken fast-track in one intensive 12 month year.

In addition to the Specialist Modules and Optional Modules offered on the MComp in Composition and Composition for Screen, MMus composers prepare a Critical Portfolio and Research Project (Written Project or Lecture Presentation).

These units explore theoretical and musicological approaches, aesthetics and analysis, mainly on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Assessment for the composition element is by submission of a portfolio of compositions at the end of the year and a take-away set paper.

Master of Music: MMus in Composition for Screen

This course is two years full-time only. Exceptionally, it can be taken fast-track in one calendar year.

In addition to the Specialist Modules Optional Modules offered on the MComp in Composition and Composition for Screen, MMus student prepare a Critical Portfolio and Research Project (Written Project or Lecture Presenation).

The Masters Programme in Composition for Screen prepares you for the submission of a portfolio of works addressing all aspects of the craft of screen-music composition. You will have your works performed by fellow students and professional ensembles, and receive tuition from active screen composers and experts, emphasising a practical approach to composition for screen. There are also networking events and workshops with film, television, and new media professionals as well as collaborations with students from London-based film schools.
