Director of Development
Samir read Modern Languages at
Cambridge
University, where he was a choral scholar at
St. John’s
College. He spent his early career in the travel industry. On completing the Post-Graduate Diploma in Cultural Management at
City
University in 1999, Samir’s first position in the arts was as Corporate Giving Manager at English National Opera. Further roles in fundraising and marketing followed at the Royal Academy of Arts, Handel House and latterly at Shakespeare's Globe, where he launched a £20m capital campaign.
He joined the Royal College of Music as Director of Development in May 2009 and manages the fundraising team, dealing with Friends, Patrons, sponsorship, trusts & foundations, legacies, major gifts and corporate events.
Outside of work Samir performs as a tenor soloist and is Chairman of Pegasus, one of
London’s leading chamber choirs.
