Pascal Dusapin in Residence
We are thrilled to welcome one of the world's most highly acclaimed composers for a residency at the RCM. Dusapin will be working with RCM composers and coaching RCM performers in some of his most engaging music.
RCM Artistic Director Stephen Johns writes: “It is a great privilege to welcome Pascal Dusapin to the RCM. He is an immensely influential figure in contemporary European music, admired by many of our younger composers.
Here in the UK, even after the success of his music at the 2011 BBC Proms, we have only just started to get to know his music. His scintillating and brilliant musical world still deserves to be heard in the UK more than it has been."

An orchestral concert featuring Duspain's Piano Concerto and Galim for flute and strings.

A chamber concert featuring Dusapin's Etudes 2 & 3, Ohimé, Microgrammes and Canto.

Who is Dusapin?

- While Pascal Dusapin may be considered one of the most individual composers today, he also occupies the position of one of the main protagonists in the world of French music.
- Dusapin’s style never abandons a certain lyrical quality, nor a controlled energy which combines the rigours of formal organisation with the freedom of invention.
- Pascal Dusapin may be in love with freedom, but he never turns his back on the fruits of classicism, nor on the progress of the avant-garde, and is thus free to construct his own true work, independent of any schools of thought.
