Andrew McCrea studied organ at the Royal College of Music from 1983 to 1987 and, with the help of a bursary from the Leverhulme Trust, at the Amsterdam Conservatorium from 1989 to 1990. He is a graduate of London University and was awarded a Master's Degree from Reading University in 1996. Additionally, he holds appointments at the Royal College of Organists and the Faculty of Continuing Education (Birkbeck College), London University.
Andrew McCrea has published on 19th and 20th century British organ music and organ performance practice, and also on the history of organ-building in the Baltic States - research activities continue in these areas. Concert engagements have included recitals in Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, South Africa and Sweden and in 1997 he was a finalist in the Lahti International Organ Competition in Finland.
