Centre for Performance History

The Centre for Performance History, led by Professor Paul Banks, houses extensive research collections and, working with Ashley Solomn, the Head of Historical Performance, promotes research into all aspects of performance through the ages, from the development of musical instruments to the study of concert-going and performance practice.

Other research areas include the social history of music, manuscript studies and preparation of scholarly editions.
