Biography

Paul Hamburger began his music studies in Vienna and emigrated to Britain in 1939. He was interned as an enemy alien on the Isle of Man in 1940 and then studied at Royal College of Music from 1941-43.

He was a highly respected accompanist and worked at the BBC where he made many recordings with leading artists. He also worked for the English Opera Group and Glyndebourne Opera, and he taught many generations of British singers privately and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
