The Music Man Project
RCM Sparks and The Music Man Project, the UK’s first full-time music education service for people with learning disabilities, ran a pilot project in the summer term of 2016 which involved a training workshop for RCM students and a workshop for adults ‘Music is Magic’, led by founder, David Stanley.
Participants from the Music is Magic workshop enjoyed playing, singing and signing a wide range of music from The Music Man Project. Participants explored the instruments and performed the music from their recent production at the London Palladium and were supported by Royal College of Music musicians and Music Man Project student ambassadors. It was an ideal opportunity for adults with learning disabilities who enjoy music but struggle to find opportunities to access live music-making with other musicians.
RCM Sparks and The Music Man Project will continue working together this term with an event in November 2016. More details to follow.
