Enno Senft divides his work as principal double-bass between the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, of which he is a founder member, and the London Sinfonietta. Born in Germany, he studied in Cologne with Paul Breuer and in Vienna with Ludwig Streicher. He completed his studies with distinction, and scholarships from the German Music Council and Academic Exchange Programme enabled him to work further with Franco Petracchi in Italy and Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Enno Senft has performed as soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Japan and the USA. He has appeared at the Lockenhaus Festival with Gidon Kremer, at 'Wien Modern', the Darmstadt, Hannover, Helsinki and Sermoneta Contemporary Music Festivals, in Lucerne and at the Philharmonic in Berlin as soloist under Roger Norrington. As part of the 'State of the Nation' project he has held workshops for contemporary double-bass at the London South Bank Centre. He has recorded for Austrian Radio and Television, the BBC, RIAS Berlin, Teldec Classics, Deutsche Grammophon and Claves Records. He also performs as guest with the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt and Nash Ensemble London.
