Visit the Museum of Instruments

Housing over 1,000 instruments and accessories from the 15th century onwards, the RCM Museum is full of musical treasures. Among them you will find anonymous clavicytherium, believed to be the earliest surviving stringed keyboard instrument, remarkable and unfamiliar instruments such as the contrabassophon, division viol, serpent and glass armonica, plus trombones owned and played by Elgar and Holst.

Please note, the Museum is closed for Christmas and Easter holidays. Groups and research access by appointment. Guided tours £5 (£4 concessions) per head (max group size 25).
