David Theodore


David Theodore studied the oboe at the Royal Academy of Music. At the age of twenty he was appointed Principal Oboe in the BBC Welsh Orchestra. Since then he has held various London Principal positions,including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the London Philharmonic, where he was Principal for twenty years and with them made many appearances as soloist. He enjoys a wide range of music making from chamber music to solo playing,appearing with many of the leading orchestras. He has recorded the Mozart and the Vaughan Williams Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra for Chandos Records. He also spends time recording the music for many film soundtracks and television programmes. Film credits include Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Reader and Black Swan. David has always been involved with teaching and was appointed a Fellow of both the Royal Academy and the Guildhall School of Music.
