Andrea de Flammineis

Born in Milan in 1967, Andrea de Flammineis studied with Professor E. Dall’Oca at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in his home city. After graduating with distinction he continued his studies with Professor Sergio Azzolini at the Hochschule fur Musik in Stuttgart. From 1987 – 1990 he was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra. During this period he also appeared as soloists with the R.A. I. di Milano (the Italian Radio Orchestra) and other Italian orchestras. In 1992 he won the post of Principal Bassoon of the Orchestra della Toscana in Florence, before moving to London two years later to take up his current position of Principal Bassoon of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. He is regularly invited to appear as guest principal with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra. Andrea is also a member of the Soloists of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, with whom he has performed solo concertos and major works from the chamber music repertoire.
