Christine Pendrill

Christine began her professional career while still an oboe student at the RCM and, after a few years freelancing, became principal cor anglais of the Philharmonia in 1980. In 1985 she was invited to join the London Symphony Orchestra and was subsequently the first woman to be elected to its Board of Directors.

Her discography includes most major orchestral solos and she also features on numerous television and film soundtracks.

In 1996 Christine gave the world premiere of James MacMillan’s The World’s Ransoming, written for her and the LSO, later recording it with Sir Colin Davis.

Christine is also widely in demand as a teacher and in 2009, was invited to give a masterclass at the International Reed Convention.
