Major Gifts Manager

Closing date: Monday 25 February 2019

Interview date: w/c 11 March 2019

The Royal College of Music seeks to appoint a highly-motivated and experienced Major Gifts Manager. The post-holder will be responsible for their own portfolio of prospects and existing supporters of the RCM capable of giving at six figure+ level, primarily including individuals, and also charitable trusts, statutory and corporate sources.

Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. The RCM was named as the top institution for performing arts in the UK and Europe and second in the world in the 2018 QS World University Rankings. The Development & Alumni Engagement department (DAE) raises significant funds each year from individuals, companies, charitable trusts and foundations, to support the RCM in its educational and artistic mission.

This is an exceptional time to join the Royal College of Music, and to play a significant role as they work towards completion of an ambitious capital project and the realisation of future strategic objectives. The ‘More Music: Reimagining the Royal College of Music’ Campaign launched in 2015, represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform the RCM’s facilities; investing in innovation and enhancing the student and visitor experience.

Reporting to the Head of Major Gifts, the post-holder will develop and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies to help maximise the RCM’s income.  The successful candidate will have a systematic approach to fundraising, with excellent attention to detail. They will have a successful track record of achieving five figure+ support from individual supporters and a track record of identifying and maintaining external relationships with key stakeholders. Candidates with comparable experience in a results driven environment will also be considered.

An appreciation of the arts and music, with a desire to immerse yourself in the work and culture of the Royal College of Music is essential.
