Founded in 1882, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is a world-leading music conservatoire with a prestigious history and contemporary outlook. The RCM was named top institution for Performing Arts in the UK for fourth consecutive year in the 2019 QS World University Rankings.
The RCM Development & Alumni Engagement (DAE) department raises significant funds each year from individuals, companies, charitable trusts and foundations, to support the RCM in its educational and artistic mission. In 2015, the RCM announced plans to transform its building in the heart of South Kensington and this is a key priority of an ambitious capital campaign, More Music: Reimagining the Royal College of Music.
As part of our fundraising activities, the RCM Development and Alumni Engagement (DAE) events team organise a range of high level supporters’ events including a major annual fundraising gala. The post is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Senior Development Manager (Corporate and Events) and for all of the Development and Alumni Engagement events. It will involve managing a certain number of DAE events in their entirety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Organising venue bookings, catering, stewarding staff and ticket allocations
- Producing briefing packs
- Maintaining accurate up-to-date records around invitations, guest attendance and budgets.
- Please note that the nature of this role involves some evening and weekend work, for which you receive time off in lieu.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, candidates must have strong communication and interpersonal skills together with a well-organised methodical approach to administration. You need to have a keen eye for detail and the ability to juggle a variety of tasks within an intensive annual timeline. A good working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or a similar fundraising database and experience in financial procedures are essential requirements of the post.
