The Royal College of Music (RCM) is one of the world's greatest conservatoires. In addition to its sector-leading undergraduate and postgraduate music provision, the RCM has a renowned Junior Department, a ground-breaking learning and participation programme, RCM Sparks, and strong links with local music education providers, including the Tri-borough Music Hub.
As Area Leader in Music Education, you will lead the RCM’s Master of Education (MEd) programme, a flexible postgraduate degree designed for professional music educators. You will also make a vital contribution to the development and delivery of music education provision as part of the BMus programme.
You will have a strong profile as a music educator and researcher, with a deep understanding of current issues in music education, particularly in the UK. You will have substantial experience of teaching and assessment in a higher education setting, including designing and leading modules in music education. In addition, you will have demonstrable experience of working with digital technologies to deliver innovative learning experiences.
You will have excellent networking and interpersonal skills, enabling you to develop strong internal collaborations and external partnerships in music education. This will include the development of new initiatives linking RCM Sparks, undergraduate and postgraduate provision, and research areas.
As an active researcher, you will be producing research outputs of world-leading or internationally-excellent quality, suitable for submission to the forthcoming REF. The successful candidate will join a thriving research community at RCM, with particular strengths in music psychology and health and wellbeing.
