Honorary DMus for jazz piano professor

RCM jazz piano professor Mike Moran has been awarded an Honorary DMus by the Arts and Media faculty at Southampton Solent University.

He has been a visiting professor at Southampton Solent University for three years and during his time there has been closely involved in an annual competition known as ‘The Abbey Road Challenge’, which tasks Popular Music students to compose an orchestral piece that could be used in a film

Mike has had a distinguished career working in many different areas of the music business. As a keyboard player, writer, arranger, producer and musical director he has worked with artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Placido Domingo, Freddie Mercury and Kate Bush. As a film and television writer, he was written more than 100 scores including The Scarlet Pimpernel and Taggart.
