Thobela Scoops £2,000 Opera Prize

Tuesday 9 February 2016

Royal College of Music tenor Thobela Ntshanyana recently accepted first prize at the Clonter Opera Singing Competition. He follows in the footsteps of RCM bass baritone Simon Shibambu, who won the competition in 2015.

Through the Clonter Farm Music Trust, Clonter Opera provides excellent performance opportunities for young singers and aims to bridge the gap between conservatoire and professional work. The £2,000 Singing Competition Prize is generously donated by the Ann Driver Trust.

Previous RCM vocal talent to have won the competition includes Camilla Tilling and Alfie Boe.
