Cambridge Young Composer of the Year 2014/15

Tuesday 25 November 2014

RCM Junior Department composer Joe Reynolds has been announced as Cambridge Young Composer of the Year 2014/15.

Joe's winning composition was The Bell Tower of Poveglia, written for piccolo, bass clarinet, violin, cello, piano and vibraphone, and was described by judge Dr Ewan Campbell (pictured with Joe) as highly dramatic with rich harmonic writing and fantastic instrumental effects. His prize includes the Cambridge Young Composer of the Year cup and the opportunity to compose a piece for the 2015/16 event.

Having studied cello, piano and composition at the RCMJD since he was nine years old, and privately with David Sutton-Anderson, Joe now wants to pursue his passion by studying cello and composition at the senior RCM.
