NOS place for Katherine

Tuesday 29 April 2014

Recent RCM graduate Katherine Crompton has been offered a place at the National Opera Studio (NOS) for 2014/15.

The soprano was selected from hundreds of applicants, and made it through five rounds of auditions to be chosen for the prestigious placement. For the final audition she sang three arias in front of a large panel made up of representatives from English National Opera, Glyndebourne, Opera North, the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and Welsh National Opera.

Katherine – an alumna of the RCM International Opera School who continues to study with RCM professor Rosa Mannion – says “I cannot wait to start at the NOS in September and I am really excited for this new chapter in my operatic training.”

The National Opera Studio is engaged by Arts Council England and the UK’s leading opera companies to provide professional training of the highest quality for singers and repetiteurs who have the potential to become the leading artists of their generation. Many NOS-trained singers have gone on to build successful careers at an international level, including such RCM alumni as Gerald Finley, Jennifer Johnston, Alfie Boe and Susan McCulloch.
