Two Magical Sopranos

In 2012, two recent RCM graduates will be performing in high profile productions of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (”The Magic Flute”).

Suzanne Shakespeare, who became the inaugural Georgina Joshi scholar at the RCM in 2009, will sing Queen of the Night for her debut with Opera Australia in 2012. Suzanne performed the role at the RCM in 2009, receiving great acclaim.

Meanwhile, fellow Australian soprano Alexandra Hutton has been engaged to sing Papagena in the Spring 2012 production of Die Zauberflöte at the Deutsche Oper. Alexandra won the role when she gained second place in the Operetta round of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna.
