Nicola Benedetti on Desert Island Discs

RCM Spring Season star Nicola Benedetti has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s long-running programme Desert Island Discs.

The violinist – who was recently awarded an MBE for her work with musical charities – last gave a masterclass at the RCM in November 2012, and returns this season to give another on Tuesday 4 February. On the Radio 4 programme Nicola speaks about her passion for classical music in education, saying that “aside from the creative and musical experience, the discipline involved in learning to play an instrument is second to none”.

The Violin Masterclass with Nicola Benedetti takes place in the RCM’s Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall at 10am on Tuesday 4 February, and tickets cost £5. The event will be streamed live online via www.rcm.ac.uk/live, as part of our Spring Season of RCM Live events.

Other events being streamed live this season include a Vocal Masterclass with Sir John Tomlinson on Wednesday 29 January and the RCM Symphony Orchestra’s Memorial Concert for Michael Gough Matthews on Friday 31 January.
