RCM stars shine in ETO’s autumn season

Thursday 14 November 2013

This autumn, a number of RCM singers have been benefiting from the RCM’s close association with English Touring Opera.

Over several months, the singers have gained valuable experience by covering key roles in ETO’s autumn series Baroque Opera in Venice. And in recent days, a number of them have gone even further, and had the chance to appear on stage.

At Buxton Opera House on 8 and 9 November, sopranos Filipa van Eck and Natasha Day performed principal roles in Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea and Handel’s Agrippina. They were joined onstage by counter-tenor Tai Oney who also performed in both operas, and tenor Nick Pritchard who starred in The Coronation of Poppea and Jason. Then on Wednesday 13 November, soprano Caitlin Frizzell went on stage in Cavalli’s Jason at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.

ETO are rounding off their tour with performances in Cambridge and Exeter. Full details can be found on the ETO website.
