Russian Pianists' Successes

Last weekend two Russian RCM pianists were awarded prizes at major international piano competitions.

In the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Weimar, Germany, Sergey Sobolev was awarded Second Prize of €6000 and the Audience Prize of €1000. Sergey studied at the Moscow State Conservatory before moving to the RCM to further his studies under a full scholarship provided by the Leverhulme Trust.

In the 3rd Hong Kong International Piano Competition, Elmar Gasanov was awarded Fifth Prize of US $3000. Elmar is studying with Vanessa Latarche with support from the RCM Soiree D’Or scholarship.

Both pianists will benefit from concert tours arranged by the competitions for next season.
