Season’s Greetings From The Royal College of Music

Tuesday 13 December 2016

The Royal College of Music wishes all students, staff, visitors and supporters the very best for the Festive Season and New Year.

The 2016 Christmas e-card features the talented singers of the RCM Chamber Choir under the direction of the RCM’s Artistic Director Stephen Johns. They perform the first verse of Christina Rossetti’s much-loved In the Bleak Midwinter, set to music by RCM alumnus Gustav Holst.

This year’s e-card was produced and directed by the RCM Studios – the College’s professional studio environment.

The RCM studios are a vital part of the College’s offer to students, providing access to state-of-the-art audio, video and composition technologies under the supervision and tuition of skilled staff engineers. RCM students are able to work with the Studios team in gaining valuable recording experience, preparing them for the varying demands of a 21st century professional musician and offering a crucial opportunity for self-analysis.

In recent years the RCM has developed a successful programme of live broadcasts, streaming many of its performances and masterclasses online. In the past year alone, viewers from over 90 countries have tuned in live to hear the RCM’s talented musicians perform, while the College’s popular YouTube channel, has received over half a million views.

Many RCM concerts are also recorded by the Studios team for subsequent viewing by students and professors, enhancing the College’s world-leading programme of music education.
