Between now and Christmas you can experience a wealth of performances at the RCM. Join us for music in our newly unveiled, state-of-the-art Performance Hall, and hear RCM performers together with renowned musicians. Cornerstones of the repertoire – Brahms’s moving choral masterpiece, the German Requiem, and Mahler’s Fourth Symphony – are just two of the highlights in our wide-ranging artistic programme.
We continue our popular Orchestral Masterworks series with conductor Jac van Steen, exploring the many forms of the waltz, and the RCM Junior Department Symphony Orchestra perform Shostakovich’s dramatic Fifth Symphony. In November, the RCM Opera Studio lead us through a world of imagination and discovery with their new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
Our Chamber Music series continues this autumn, highlighting the quartet and the quintet, and you can experience some of the first performances in the recently opened Royal College of Music Museum. While you’re there, stay on to explore the Museum’s permanent collection and first special exhibition, Musical Portraits in Bohemian London (1870-1930). You can book your Museum visit at rcm.ac.uk/explore.
This season also sees the return of our prestigious masterclass series, where you can witness great artists working with our students. We are proud to welcome Maxim Vengerov, RCM Polonsky Visiting Professor of Violin, violinists Isabel Villaneuva and Alina Ibragimova, and former royal harpist Claire Jones.
We hope you enjoy the season!
