Join composer Fraser Trainer, Charlotte Bray and a team of RCM musicians for an inspiring, creative and collaborative week of composing.
This dual-delivery course (online and/or face-to-face) will develop musical creativity, performance and collaborative composition skills through the making of new and original music through fun, engaging and practical workshops led by Fraser Trainer and Charlotte Bray. The course will suit instrumentalists, singers, composers and song writers from any musical background with an open attitude to inventing music as a group alongside others.
For those keen to work together in person, you’ll be part of an exciting eclectic live ensemble, meeting at the Royal College of Music, writing a piece as a group.
With an accessible, practical/hands-on approach, so there’s no requirement to be able to read or notate music.
For those who are unable to join us in person, you’ll be part of a small team of composers working online with Charlotte Bray, writing pieces that interlink with the group composition.
We’ll all be working towards the same thematic goals, creating an episodic composition which will be brought together on the final day.
Friday 30 July – Wednesday 4 August
Various times (details to follow).
Support the RCM
The RCM's spring season is free to watch online, but the College welcomes gifts of every size to its Scholarships Fund, through which talented young musicians can access world-class education, regardless of their financial means. More than 60% of RCM students currently receive financial support from the College, but with rising tuition fees and costs of living set against a backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, your support is more vital than ever.
