Known as a land-mark quartet, Beethoven's op 131 sets the scene for Richard Ayes monumental No 38 Three Pieces for String Quartet which is full of 'vivid imagination and skill for combining energetic, touching and sometimes wild music'.

Recorded live in the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall on 21 May, at the Royal College of Music in London, this is an on-demand broadcast event.

Support the RCM

The RCM's summer season is free to watch online, but the College welcomes gifts of every size to its Scholarships Fund, through which talented young musicians can access world-class education, regardless of their financial means. More than 60% of RCM students currently receive financial support from the College, but with rising tuition fees and costs of living set against a backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, your support is more vital than ever.

Thank you.

The RCM offers a range of light pre-performance and interval refreshments for many of our most popular events. These are served between 6pm and 9pm (5pm for early evening performances) in the Britten Theatre Bar or in the main Foyer outside the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall.

The main entrance to the RCM has eight steps up from the pavement and two inside the main doors. A lift is available for visitors with limited mobility. The lift is built into the smaller staircase to the left of the main entrance steps. There is an intercom button on the control panel, which can be seen and reached easily from the street. On arrival, press the buzzer to notify a member of RCM staff, who will come out to meet you and operate the lift for you.

All our event venues can be accessed by visitors with limited mobility via the lift at the main entrance.
