'Please help ensure that no Royal College of Music student gets left behind. Your help will enable students suffering the most dire financial hardship to access support to continue their studies.'
The Covid-19 Hardship Fund is providing a critical safety net for our students. Your support will ensure that the future of young musicians who have worked so hard to get this far is not jeopardised by circumstances beyond their control.
These are unprecedented times for us all. Many of our students rely on gigs, teaching, performances and other work to cover their living costs and student fees. For many, this work was cancelled without warning. You can help alleviate some of the immediate financial pressure that many of our students are facing now. Your donation will help pay for food, housing and other necessities for students most in need. Without your valued support at this critical time, some of our students may not be able to return this summer to complete their studies. Thank you for your kind support.

Katy Thomson, ArtDip in Opera
'As with almost everybody who works in the arts, I had around four months of work cancelled within 36 hours once it became clear how serious the threat could be from the coronavirus. I am fully aware of how fortunate I am to still be in full-time education. Whilst there remains a huge amount of uncertainty, I rest safe in the knowledge that the RCM continues to help and support me through this strange time. We are setting up online lessons and coaching sessions next term, and I am enjoying the newness of it all. A time for discovery. I am determined to use this time productively to explore new repertoire. I look forward to finding out what (digital) adventures are in store for the term ahead and I am thoroughly committed to creatively enhancing my learning through digital means.'

'I feel lucky that in our second term we got to fit in so many fantastic opportunities before the unfortunate events began to happen around the world. I’m really thankful to our professors, who not only jumped right into the matter of online education, but also continue to check in on us frequently to make sure that we’re doing alright and have what we need. None of us know how this will resolve or what our new normal will look like at the end of it all, but I’m really proud of all that I have accomplished up to this point, and it has greatly encouraged me to keep working and pushing as much as I can while we’re in this uncertain time with my work, but also in my positivity.'

RCM's response to coronavirus (Covid-19)
Our guidance for RCM students during the current situation of coronavirus (Covid-19) is available elsewhere on our website. It contains FAQs, details of how to get support and links to government advice so that our students are as well informed as possible at this time. We frequently review this page in response to updates from the government.
