Francoise-Green Piano Duo win ROSL Ensemble Prize

Friday 8 March 2013

RCM alumni the Françoise-Green Piano Duo have won the Ensemble Prize in the Royal Overseas League Music Competition.

The duo's win continues the RCM’s success in this year’s competition, after RCM violinist Michael Foyle and RCM baritone Morgan Pearse both won their respective category finals.

Antoine Françoise and Robin Green are former recipients of the RCM’s Leverhulme Junior Fellowship in Chamber Music and resident pianists for the RCM’s conducting programme. Antoine Françoise is a Professor of Piano (contemporary specialism) at the RCM.

For their winning performance on Tuesday 5 March the duo presented a variety of works by Kurtag, Schumann, Bach and Schubert, plus a piece by RCM composition professor Kenneth Hesketh. The jury were unanimous in their decision to award them the first prize.

Also competing in the Ensemble Final of the prestigious competition were RCM guitar duo Tom Ellis and Laura Snowden.

The Françoise-Green Piano Duo will perform in the grand final of the ROSL soloists competition at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on 3 June, whilst the jury deliberate their verdict.
