RCM Singers Dazzle at London Handel Singing Competition

Royal College of Music singers have enjoyed a clean sweep at this year's London Handel Singing Competition.
Tenor William Wallace, a recent RCM graduate (pictured above), was awarded First Prize following his performance of three arias from Handel's Judas Maccabeus, Jephtha and Rodelinda.

Sopranos Galina Averina and Marie Lys, who are currently studying at the RCM International Opera School, were also awarded Second Prize and the Audience Prize and Selma D and Leon Fishbach Memorial Prizes respectively. Marie Lys 435x290.jpg)

Held on Monday 4 April at St George’s, Hanover Square, the competition has become a popular fixture in the London Handel Festival's month long celebration of the composer.
Earlier in the season, RCM singers took part in the other pillar of the festival - a production of Ariodante at the RCM's Britten Theatre. The sold-out week of performances received rave reviews for RCM singers from The Guardian and Financial Times and some of the fantastic photos of the production are available to view on our Facebook page.
