After your audition

We aim to inform candidates of the outcome of their audition as soon as we can. We will provide successful applicants with additional information and resources to help them prepare for their life at the Royal College of Music.

When will I know about the outcome of my audition?

If you auditioned in London in December or applied by recording you should hear from us about the outcome of your audition before Christmas.

If you auditioned overseas or auditioned in London outside the main audition period you should normally hear from us within two weeks of your audition date.

Successful applicants who have accepted offers of places will be contacted during the summer about Registration and Orientation Week.

To ensure we can reach you by mail, email or telephone (including over the Christmas period), please ensure you inform us of any changes in your contact details. If you have applied through UCAS Conservatoires you can update your contact details on their tracking system, UCAS Conservatoires Track.

UCAS Conservatoires Track

Candidates who applied through UCAS Conservatoires will receive their offers via UCAS Conservatoires Track. In your account you will see the course offered, along with any entry conditions you are required to meet, including details of any qualifications you need to send to the RCM. In addition, the RCM will send a confirmatory email with further information on what to do next.

To access UCAS Conservatoires Track you will need the login details you used to make your application. You will receive an email notification when updated information is available.

Successful applicants can accept their offer through this system.

Fees & scholarships

Whether you are planning to study as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at the Royal College of Music, you should consider how you will finance your studies.

Please refer to our fees and funding page for a full range of information and advice.

Every student who applies for a place on one of the RCM's performance or composition courses commencing in 2021 will be considered for scholarship, whether you have applied by video or attended an audition or interview in person.

There is no separate application process.

Eligibility for scholarships is based on merit, which is determined by performance at audition (or by submission of video) or the strength of portfolio and interview for composers.

If you are offered a scholarship or study award you will receive a letter, normally sent by email, confirming this and the conditions of your award.

Consultation lessons

If you would like to consider a consultation lesson with one of our professors please contact the relevant Faculty Administration team.

There is normally a charge of £70 for a consultation lesson (but this may vary), which is conducted in the professor’s own time. This charge is payable directly to the professor.
