Venezuelan conductor Rafael Payare returns to the Royal College of Music this spring to direct a thrilling evening of symphonic poetry.
Rafael Payare is a graduate of the world-famous El Sistema music programme and Chief Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra. As a performer, he has served as Principal Horn of the Simón Bolívar Orchestra and taken part in many prestigious tours and recordings.
The RCM Symphony Orchestra display their full talent in a rousing performance of Skryabin’s 'Poem of Ecstasy', a powerful example of the Russian composer’s ingenious orchestral writing, before launching into Richard Strauss' musical portrait of a hero, Ein Heldenleben.
