This spring our annual keyboard festival explores the life and music of Clara Schumann and the extraordinary circle of composers and musicians she moved in.
Born 200 years ago, Clara was a distinguished pianist and composer whose long life both witnessed and influenced the fast-changing musical landscape of the 19th century. In this day-long festival hear some of her solo piano music and songs as well as music by her contemporaries which she performed in her career as a concert pianist.
We will also tell the stories of her friendships with Chopin, Brahms, Mendelssohn and Liszt, among others, as well as her passionate relationship with Robert Schumann. Join RCM pianists, organists, collaborative pianists and their partners as they come together to discover the rich, brilliant and virtuosic music of the Romantic period.
Our doors will be open all day so drop in for ten minutes or stay for hours.
