Royal College of Music alumnus Christopher Cowie makes a welcome return to College for a masterclass with RCM oboe students.
Christopher Cowie studied at the RCM, where he was awarded an Exhibition and the senior oboe prize, and was principal oboe with the European Community Youth Orchestra. He has since ascended to the positions of Joint Principal Oboe of the Philharmonia Orchestra and Principal Oboe of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, and is currently Principal Oboe at the Royal Opera House.
As a soloist he has appeared in all the major London and UK venues with conductors including fellow RCM alumnus Sir Neville Marriner, and his recordings include the world premiere of Schnittke’s Concerto Grosso for flute and oboe.
